TUFF Week 1 Roundup
TUFF’s first week in S013 proved that the offseason shook up the league like never
before. One week is hardly much to work on, but clearly things should prove to be
more wide open than ever before. One shouldn’t read too much into one game, but the
first games demonstrated that things might be different across the league this season.
Sure, Baltimore looks as tough as ever, but some new teams may be on the rise.
Sacramento looked like a very good team, while Wisconsin gave the defending
champion Chicago Skyline all they could handle in their season opener. The Memphis
Shock took one on the chin from Honolulu.
Rushing yards proved to be at a high premium. The league saw only one 100 yard
rusher in the first week of games, with Pittsburgh's RB Felix Sierra the only back to
eclipse the century mark.
Week 1 Highlights:

Last season’s league MVP, QB Chad Oxford lead Chicago to a last minute 4th Quarter
comeback to beat the Wisconsin Wreckers on a last minute field goal by K Mikail
Mxyzptlk. Mxyzptlk was a highly sought after free agent who in the end opted to stay
with his former team this season. Oxford hit TE Zachery Tippett on a key 37 yard
strike to set up the winning score. As it turns out, Oxford injured himself at some
point during the game and managed to stay in to lead his team to the victory. He may
reportedly miss close to a month of action however.
Seattle QB Glenn “Grim” Reaper waited until the last play from scrimmage of his
game against the Los Angeles Paladins to attempt his first pass. The Monsoon
squandered a 9-0 4th Quarter lead to the Paladins, but in one of the most amazing
plays in TUFF history, he hit TE Maurice Scardina on a desperation toss. Scardina did
the rest, refusing to go down and reaching the endzone with only a second to go on
the clock to give the Monsoon an unbelievable win over the defending Pacific Division
champs.
Las Vegas nearly squandered a 21-0 lead of their own against the Cleveland
Commandos. Cleveland tied the game with a second remaining on RB Johnny Lowe’s
2 yard dive, but the High Rollers won the field position battle in the extra period to
salvage the win.
The Pitt Bulls defense completely shut down the San Diego Smoke, limiting the
Smoke to a total of 113 yards of net offense. The Pittsburgh offense was hardly
spectacular, but got a good effort from RB Felix Sierra and the defense did the rest.

Player of the Week:
QB Chad Oxford 20-40, 430 yards, 4 TDs
Chicago Skyline
Team of the Week:
Honolulu Islanders
Shut down Memphis Shock in Tennessee, limiting Shock to 223 net yards and only a field goal.
Looking Ahead
Chicago Skyline (1-0) @ Honolulu Islanders (1-0)
Chicago travels to Hawaii to face the Islanders in Week 2, likely without the services of Chad Oxford. Either QB Earl Smith or Leo
Champagne will have to step up for the Skyline or Honolulu could be making a very early play to be the team to beat in the Continental
Conference.
